Practice gratitude daily!

Updated: Apr 4

Has life been a little overwhelming for you lately? Just for me? Whenever I find myself feeling overwhelmed, I try to focus on something positive in the “now.” If I can find something in the now that I am truly thankful for having in my life, my attitude immediately shifts. Instead of being filled with anxiety, I begin to feel a sense of calm wash over me. What you focus on is what you attract! It can be a fine line to walk between being prepared and creating anxiety and worry. I am reminded of Psalm 103:1-2, as it talks about praising God and not forgetting about all the good things, He has done for you.

I promise to not preach at you for this entire blog post, but I will just share from my heart. For over 6 months, I have been on the journey of hiring my first employee. This has proven to be frustrating and demoralizing at times, but also very exciting at other times. I have learned to ask for help when necessary and trust the process. Asking for help and acknowledging that I don’t know everything and can’t figure out everything on my own has been a humbling experience but has taught me that being resourceful is nothing to be ashamed about. Work smarter! I am anticipating my new employee will take her first client on Monday, July 10th.

This past Friday night, I attended a rodeo for the first time in many years. It was good to return to my roots and see some familiar faces. I was reminded of great memories traveling like gypsies from town to town all summer long, living out of the motor home and spending time with my mom and dad. It makes me smile to remember the wild adventures that came with each trip. I just might have to share in more detail in a later post. I am so thankful for how I was raised and the values my parents instilled in me. The principle of hard work and a no-quit attitude has proved to be even more valuable in my adult life than it was growing up. I did not have the most expensive horses growing up, but through hard work and great trainers was very successful in competitions. Nothing was given, but earned which made the victory that much sweeter!
